Well I am a pretty happy Cingular user. Not a big fan of Cell Phone companies but my cell phone is my main phone. Not a big fan of contracts so on GoPhone Pick Your Plan right now.
In a month I want to consider switching to a plan. I would mainly use the phone during the hours of the night and the weekends. Unlimited Nights and weekends, no roaming charges, no hidden charges of any kind is a must. There is no way I would use 200 minutes in a month during the daytime. This is one big reason why I am still on prepaid. However I am always on edge.
Don't feel like upgrading quite yet. However if I do the Nextel basic plan seems like it would fit me. My questions are as follows:
Whats up with that 150 dollar deposit for the service or whatever I have been hearing about? Why do they do this if you get it back in a year?
Nextel from what I have read does use SIM cards right? This is important to me.
How long would it take to switch my number over from Cingular if I decide to go with Nextel eventually?
My big big question is how in the world can i get a set estimate on the bill. This is my biggest beef with cell phone companies. I really don't want to have to spend anymore than 45 a month for how much I use the phone. I have tried online bill estimate programs and none of the ones I found worked.

Add 5-10 dollars a month for fees and taxes. If you don't add any extras or go over your minutes then your bill should be between 35-40 dollars a month.
Nextel is a good choice because unless you have the Hybrid/Powersource phone it can't roam.
Nextel sim chips aren't compatible with Cingular/AT&T so copying numbers over isn't likely.
Go to the Sprint.com website and check out coverage in your area. Nextel's can't roam because no other major company uses the iDen technology, as a result where Nextel doesn't have towers, their phones just won't work.

If you live in the southeast, SouthernLINC can roam from Nextel. I assume the reverse is true too. Are those the only two companies that offer iden?

Seems like there is another small regional carrier that might, however there are no other nationwide carriers that do. And to amend a previous statement, the Hybrid phone will not roam either. At the time of that post I was informed that the Hybrid may be able to roam eventually, however I've since learned that it cannot.
