If anyone wants to tether their phone with Vista here is how you do it.
Install your cell phone as a modem first, then
Setting up the modem
On the PC, ensure that the USB cable is connected to both the handset and the PC.
Click on Start, Settings and then Control Panel.
Double click on the Phone and Modem Options icon.
Click on the Modems tab.
Click to select Sony Ericsson W810 USB WMC Data Modem from the modem list.
Click on the Properties button.
Click on the Advanced tab.
Type at+cgdcont=1,"IP","isp.cingular" in the Extra initialization command field.
Click OK to save.
Setting up the connection
On the PC, return to the Control Panel and double click on the Network Connections icon.
Click on Create a new connection.
Click Next on the New Connection Wizard.
Tick Connect to the Internet and then click on Next.
Tick Set up my connection manually and then click on Next.
Tick Connect using a dial-up modem and then click on Next.
Check the Sony Ericsson W810 USB WMC Data Modem box.
Ensure that this is the only modem selected and then click on Next.
Type CNG GPRS for the ISP Name and then click on Next.
Type *99***3# for the Phone number and then click on Next.
Type ISP@CINGULARGPRS.COM in the User name field.
Type CINGULAR1 in the Password and Confirm Password fields.
Select from the preference options below and then click on Next.
Click Finish to complete the setup.
Making the connection
On the PC, return to the Network Connections folder and double click on the CNG GPRS icon.
Ensure that the Dial field displays *99***3#.
Click on Dial.
You will now be connected to the Cingular GPRS service

most providers will not like it unless you ahve a true data plan on your wireless internet like the $20.00 unlimited plan only applys for using the device itself for internet not tethering. just to let people know so they don't get their stuff messed up don't know how much they are enforcing it.

you need to have a data connect plan to tether. If you have a pda connect plan it probably wont work. The cell carriers to catch on eventually if you dont have the right provisioning.

generally speaking Cingular doesn't really crack down on it, I've teathered plenty of times with no issues, you can teather with any plan, handset, pda or no data connect, but teathering without unlim internet is highly expensive, teather away, it won't be stopped unless it becomes a real problem. Very few people teather. Cingular has bigger fish to fry.
