To the Manator. You think I'm a joke? With all the money I spend on Cingular's Services for mine and my son's phones I do expect competent Customer Service and most of all, have a rightful expectation NOT TO BE LIED TO! I have never lied to one of mine nor would I would work for a company that advocates dishonesty. For you to get on here and insult me as you have shows your true character and that you apparently defend and stand up for incompetence and untruthfulness.

I know what you're saying, but you weren't lied to, thats the policy, if you didn't get it back there was a missunderstanding somewhere along the line, tell CS your exact situation and they'll transfer you to someone that can look into it.

Just to let the forum know I did finally receive my deposits last Sat. but not after A LOT of frustration and lying. I know that is a strong word but I can think of no other. One CSR told me that 2 $500 checks were mailed to me on the 9th. I asked if she was positive about that and she said yes. If everything I was told in the numerous contacts I had with them then the post mark on the check would not have said the 21st of Feb but on the 9th as I was told. It does not take that long to get from El Paso to OKC. And the weather has been pretty nice between here and there.

Hi everybody!

I'd like to add my story to this post, because it adds another flavor to this security deposit-thing.

First, I had to pay 500 *per line* for a 2-line 24 months contract (= 1000 USD), because I recently moved from Europe and consequently did not have any US credit history. They then said it will be refunded after 12 months of contract (no mention of consecutive payments, whatsoever).

Now, I get a check for 1*500 (Deposit refund) + 259 (Overpayment Refund) USD. Not the 1000 that I anticipated.

I call the store, from their DBase they confirm that I indeed deposited 1000. Regarding refund, they tell me to call customer service, do not know of any "Receivables Management". Asked for any deposit number or reference, they say "Customer Service" sees the same info they see and there will be no problem.

Callig the customer service, it takes them 15min to pull up the info regarding the deposit. They only see a deposit of 500 USD and no idea where to go from there. I ask to be referred to "Receivables Management" and they tell me to call 800-947 50 96, which puts me on hold for another 20min.

The guy I talk to is competent and friendly and confirms that I actually paid a deposit of 1000. I also received two checks of 500, *BUT*, as there was a balance on my account on the date the check was issued, this was discounted from the refunded amount!

1. Interesting that this did not show up anywhere and on the webportal my balance still showed a due of 241.

2. Even more interesting that they seem to be running completely different DBases.

However, thanks a lot for the previous posts. You guys saved me *hell*!

All the best,
J.[/b]

Shalalala: This person spent $500 for each line in a deposit in wich they did not recieve! That is not a LITTLE oops! That is a HUGE deal! I too was issued a deposit in 2007. I had good credit so I only had to pay a $150. The check never came to me however apon the arrival of the end of my 2 year contract I decided that I did not need their service anymore since I moved away and didn't get good service in my remote location. After ending my contract under good standing, I learned that for some reason my deposit had been returned to them a year prior. I lived at the address they sent it to a year ago, but I never recieved it. Don't know why it was sent back, but it was obviously no fault through AT&T, I hope. Now I have been trying diligently every month for 4 months now trying to get it back. Each time the check was reissued, it was never actually sent out. I am in constant contact with their 'commintment team' however someone in the treasurey department is failing to do their job in getting it into the mail. I have to wait 2-3 weeks each time a new case is summited and never recieved anything but a bill, wich they quickly dissmissed of course since my service was cancelled months prior icon_blink.gif ! Now it is considered an urgent case. I was told it would be next dayed to me and when it did not arrive i called again. The next day service was cancelled by the treasurey department who then noted the department that requested it to be next dayed was not authorized to do so and I would have to wait 2-3 weeks again (attempt #5 now and 1yr. 4 months later). Now it has been more than three weeks since and no check. Once again, every one is puzzled. I feel sorry for the poor customer service reps. that have to look through my long complicated case, who in turn feel sorry for me for all the trouble. I can only imagine the fustration level of someone who has given them more! WTF Shalala. I'd like to see something like that happen to you. It's not fun. I am spending more hours on the phone with them then I would in an everage work day for nothing. I loved my service, but after all this I would reconsider ever signing another contract with them.
