Hi,
I signed up for a 1 year contract 6 months ago. I didnt have a credit history so I was asked to deposit 500 dollars which the customer service rep said would be refundable after 6 months if I kept paying my monthly bills on time. 6 months later I call cingular and they say it is 1 year and asked me to contact the store where I got the connection. As I moved to a new city it is not very convenient to visit the store in person so I decide to call them up but the number I got for the store from Cingular customer service takes me back to cingular customer service itself.
Just wanted to know if others have faced a similar situation. ANy ideas?
Thanks,
Zee

typically a security deposit is refunded after the contract is completed.
if you are calling a store select sales and you will get a store rep. if you select billing you get customer care
From what I've been told at training, its 12 consecutive on time payments is when you get your deposit back.

One year ago I put up 2 $500 deposits for 2 lines and was told that if I made 12 consecutive payments on time etc I would get the deposits back.
Well guess what? They lied. After making my 12th consecutive payment I called and was told that I had to wait until my contract was a year old and to call back February 6th which is the date I signed my contract in 2006. I spoke with someone in the Receivables Management Dept. and gave them the information requested. They told me that someone would contact me within 72 hours and get this resolved and that I should get my check by February 15th. They also stated that I would get a case number. After not hearing from anyone in 72 hours I called them. I was told that my refund was approved on February 7th, 2007 and I would have my deposit within 7 to 10 business days. I asked for a case number and was told that I could not have it.
Well guess what? They lied. I called them again and was told a completely different story. This time I was told that it was approved on February 9th and mailed out on the same day and that I would have it between 7 and 10 business days which would make it yesterday February 23rd, 2007. They also made up and excuse that the weather could possible be holding it up as there was bad weather going on all over the United States. (It’s 70 degrees and nice and sunny here) Believe it or not I actually got a case number, or at least I think it is one. I’m beginning to believe that it is just a made up number. I also found it strange how they could possibly predict how this check could possibly arrive in my mailbox at the exact 7 to 10 business day time frame.
Well guess what? Yup you got it. They lied again. I called them again yesterday and explained my situation to the first Customer Service person. He transferred me to the Rebate Center. What a joke. After getting to another CS Rep I was passed around to a couple of more Reps before finally winding up at Receivables Management which is where I should have been transferred to begin with. Here I received confirmation that I indeed had been lied to on the above previous occasions. The Rep told me that “ I had been given misinformation.” The Rep proceeded to tell me that my checked been mailed on February 9th, and that instead of 7 to 10 business days, I would get it between 2 to 4 weeks. Once again, after being mailed on the 9th, how can they possibly predict the time that it will arrive? I was also told that if I did not receive it by March 7th that they would overnight my money to me.
Can you say run around?
Cingular is a joke. Their Customer Service is terrible. The sad thing is, I now feel that it is necessary to start complaining at the corporate level, The Oklahoma AG;s Office and start consulting a consumer attorney.
Needless to say, at the end of my contract, Cingular will lose a faithful happy customer.

You're a joke.
And so what if they lose you? If you're going to be a stuck up customer, you'd be better off just cancelling.
Well, thats no way to treat a customer, wheather or not you're on the phone, a little psychology can solve many irate customers (not that you're irate)
isn't it like 4 steps
Listen
Acknowlege
Apologize
Repair
or some junk like that. no need to insult somebody they don't know you, you don't know them, why should you hate each other?
Obviously there was a missunderstanding, Cingular's customer service isn't a joke, I always hear about problems with them, but I've never experienced anything but professionalism and courtesy, both as a customer, and as a Cingular Sales rep.

Ask to speak to someone in the Receivables Management.

To the Manator. You think I'm a joke? With all the money I spend on Cingular's Services for mine and my son's phones I do expect competent Customer Service and most of all, have a rightful expectation NOT TO BE LIED TO! I have never lied to one of mine nor would I would work for a company that advocates dishonesty. For you to get on here and insult me as you have shows your true character and that you apparently defend and stand up for incompetence and untruthfulness.
