Here's a slick operation.
Sprint says I can sign up for 2 years and get a phone for $75 after a $75 mail-in-rebate. That's $150 out of pocket.
So then I wait 3 month for my rebate. I thought I better call and find out where it is.
The recording says I didn't qualify. WHAT?
Do you thing I could get out of my contract, NOPE! Another $150 "Early Termination Fee"
If Sprint does this a few thousand times that's a cool $450,000 just by false advertising, RIGHT?
How do I not qualify, when the Sprint Store says I did when I signed up.
Lier, Lier, Pants on fire.

There are a lot of things you can look at to judge fault, and the best place to work is the salesman whom you bought the phone from. I've been in sales for a long time, so don't view this as an attack on salesman, but some of them don't pay enough attention to details while in the sale to see whether or not a product or sale qualifies for a rebate.
Next the ETF does go to Sprint, but if you bought the phone from an independent dealer the phone is not Sprint's phone, but is paid for by the dealer, so Sprint isn't getting that money. Mail-in rebates sometimes are from Sprint direct, but often times are direct from the manufacturer.
Without knowing the full details of your instance I couldn't say, but with the well thought out response of lyer, lyer pants on fire, isn't it possible that you missed a few details in there yourself?

I agree with the client. I have been calling Sprint for the last 6 months at least 2-3x a month. I called managers, the chat online people, the 1800 Sprint number and not one person can upgrade my phone, give me a rebate on or tell me how to upgrade my existing contract online or over the phone.
The excuse?: 1) My information can never be pulled up because "the computer" is down (for 6 months?) 2) "Our department doesn't handle this, let me connect you to service" (this process takes an hour and finally you are disconnected on Sprints line). 3) "Customer Service is suppose to handle this" (But not one person can give me any information because [see excuse 1]).
YOU can say all you want, but I've been a loyal paying customer, bought my phone online, paid on time, and have been patient for the last 6 months but its like a circle with Sprint customer service (same excuse different day). The only thing good is they have a gazillion stores, but I heard a lot of complaints about the rebate. (And yes I own a Sprint phone, not Sanyo, Motorola, or whatever). If there is no rebate then they should not put out false advertising. Good service is what makes a Great Company. (I wouldn’t need a rebate to get me to stay on as a satisfied customer, because the service alone would make me want to stay. Unfortunately, I am considering another company because Sprint is not “Honest”).

Sprint does not manufacture phones, and the phone only says Sprint because Sprint asked the manufacturer to place it on the phone.

Beware the Kellogs rebate, it is ONLY valid on the higher end phones, with prices over $299.99 (before any discounts) if I recall correctly.

I Try To Stay Away From Mail In Rebates. They Should Be Instant Rebates Or None At All.

The only difference between a phone with a mail-in rebate and one that does not is, the one that doesn't have one . . . doesn't have one. If you don't like mail-in rebates don't mail them in, and your problem is solved.

I waited 3 weeks for Sprint to ship an upgrade phone and low and behold there's no paperwork in the box. No packing slip no receipt no order copy. I never rec'd email confirmation of the order. Long story boring - spent 30 minutes on the phone with them and the best they could do was not to resend or send the order or the receipt or the packing slip but to send them a copy of the credit card bill.
You've got to understand that this order took 3 weeks and more than 30 phone calls in failed attempts to get an order number or even a UPS tracking number. Lord only knows if they'll ever bother to process the $50 rebate. Sprint is about as third world dysfunctional as it's possible to be and still be a phone company.

Did you order it from Sprint's own website, or from a third-party website that sells Sprint phones?
My best suggestion for better service over the phone from Sprint is to hang up and keep trying until you get an English primary speaking person. These are most likely to actually work for Sprint and not an outsourced call center.
