Just got t-mobile and overall, I love it, especially for the ability to roam on Cingular and Cellular One. There's just one big, nagging issue though.
After I've been on a T-Mobile network, the phone won't automatically switch over to Cellular One once I've left the T-Mobile coverage area.
Signal strength will drop to zero and I'll have no network identifier, but the phone won't look for a roaming signal automatically. If I try to manually change networks, it says "No networks available."
However, if I power-cycle the phone, it pulls the roaming signal and reads "CellularOne/DCS"
The weird part is when I re-enter a T-Mobile area, it finds the signal no problem and switches without a power cycle.
This is not phone dependent since I tried my SIM in an old unbranded, unlocked phone with the same result.
T-Mobile overlaps Cingular and Cell One in some parts of my area, so could the T-Mobile network be sending a signal to the handset to keep it from roaming?
T-Mobile said that power-cycling the phone is sometimes necessary to find the strongest signal.
I've never had a phone that had to power cycle to pull a roaming signal. Any thoughts?

I normally also have to do a powercycle when I go into a cellular onr area. They seem to be the only carrier that causes the problem for me. This only happens in Western Pennsylvania too. Where is it happening for you at.

Sometimes the phone gets stuck with T-Mobile registration. Powercycling the phone helps refresh the registration. Normally there is no problem with handoff's, my phone works fine when I go through NC and switch to SunCom, but some of the smaller carriers I do have issues to.
I look at it like this - When my internet slows down, I powercycle the computer and modem - Works fine when I get it back up --- Phone = mini computer
