Hi. I have the "Mobile IM" application on my cellphone. Now, does the "Mobile IM" application requires a data plan (I do have a text plan)? I've contacted VZW customer support a copule of days ago by phone, but. no luck. Eventhough it says that it is not charged airtime, I've got a feeling that it still charges "other" airtime fees, well. again, as much I want to use it, I'm afraid that I'd be charged something else than a text plan. If anyone else have both a Verizon Wireless and a Mobile IM application installed, let me know. Thanks!

I forgot to add about both weekdays and weekends; I've got "free" airtime on weekends, but charges apply on weekdays (time-based).

I doesnt use airtime but it does use text messages. It will come out of the 500, 1000 or 2500 additional messages. In messaging doesnt apply unfortunately.

Ok. I get the 1st part, but. not the 2nd part where you said this: "In messaging doesn't apply unfortunately". Call me stupid, but can ya explain that a bit better so I can understand it? Thanks.
Here's an example of what I'm assuming here:
When I have 500 text messages per month, assume that I've joined in the MIM (Mobile IM) application; even with my 500 text messages per month plan, those messages sent/received is still deducted, am I correct? No offense, I think that's kind of either stupid or something else. unless if I plan to upgrade it, that might not be a bad deal after all. W/o the text plan, it is $0.15/message (went in effect yesterday) both ways. Why the increase? It's (personally, myself) stupid.

You got it! Everytime you send or recieve an IM it will deduct from the 500 messages. Definitely increase you messaging plan if you are going to be using it. They go quick. Trust me
I was talking about the "in network" messaging that is unlimited will not be used for mobile IM.

Hi. I talked to a VZW rep and if I accept the terms to use the MIM applicaton, it would also require me to use either a data plan (with or w/o text plan) and using the Mobile Web 2.0 application. I don't know why, but I guess it requires something else that could be integrated with each other. Hmm. $5/month isn't that bad, but. still adds up some other stuff, too. Who knows what?

go here on your Blackberry and select the 8830 version. it should work fine, they just have not updated the site for the Curve yet.

Mobile IM is a free application download, and the Mobile Web 2.0 isn't required. While first downloading it you may use airtime (old plans) or megabytes (current plans) and see charges for that. Otherwise just your messaging plan applies for what you use on the IM application.
