Hey im about to purchase a nokia 5300, I was wondering if you are able to use iPod Headphones and plug them straight into the headphone jack. Or if you cant, can you buy normal stereo headphones from a electronics store and use it in the headphone jack?

The jack of the 5300 is 2,5mm - a standard headset is 3,5mm.
But Nokia includes an adapter in the package so you can connect every normal headset (like the iPod one).
Why they did it this way instead of just installing a normal 3,5mm jack. no idea. it's just stupid.

I don't know if there are any headphones with 2,5mm - but as I said: an adapter is included which allows you to connect 3,5mm headphones.

I have not seen any 2.5 mm headphones of any substantial quality, the 2.5mm stereo headset provided also has a microphone.
The 2.5 to 3.5 mm jack does not support microphone but you can use the microphone integrated into the phone while you use your headphones.
