Ok, I just got a datacable for my V400. Its a MA-8862C and I need help getting the proper drivers to install the cable and phone and nomatter what I've tried MPT will NOT pick up on this phone at all. and I dont believe the cable drivers are working or something.

have you tried updating MPT? does your laptop detect new hardware when you plug in your V400?

It says "USB Cable something" and asks me to locate the drivers and I've downloaded the V400 drivers and selected their location and it still refuses to work.

had you went through the setup wizard from MPT? it should ask you to select the model. you can try going to your MPT, click on menu -> setup -> general setup -> communication -> change modem(or similar) -> follow through the wizard to detect your phone.
whats your MPT version? (menu -> help -> about motorola phone tools)
to update MPT (menu -> setup -> update)
