I say definately. I much prefer texting over straight out voice calls. All day at work if anything urgent comes up and you can't directly get ahold of me, just send a quick text message and I slip into an aux code and call you back or wait til my break. Also it is very easy to get ahold of people all the time mostly anywhere. Pretty stellar way to keep in touch on the go.
Now, when being on the phone all day long assisting customers and talking your butt off as it is your job, don't you just feel like going home, not talking to everyone about your day, life, what your doing, etc?. I feel this way. not all the time, but most. I much rather text it out. sometimes my voice hurts haha.

So yes, it has affected my social life.

I've had my phone for 4 years now and could not live without it. I really don't use it much for actual calls, but for text messages.
My boyfriend is a Ft Worth, Tx police officer. I can text him and while he's at work and know that I'll get a message back when he has the time. We don't really get to see each other much due to our busy schedules. So the texting lets us know that we do care.

It makes setting up a date faster, instead of whats your number and calling the house waiting for them to get home, call the celly or text to see whats up

Ever since I got a motorola in my hands, my life has changed, my social life all the way to carrer goals, if you told me when I was 12 and got my first phone that I would be selling mobile phones in 6 years, I'd say you're crazy, I'm gonna be a baseball player, now I want to program cellphones for a living.

Yeah, its changed my social life.
