Can anyone help me? My phone was working perfectly all day, then all of a sudden, I flipped it open, the screen went white (does this a lot) but then instead of the regular screen coming up like it normally does, it just went completely black and is now dead. The key pad still lights up when I press 'on' and I don't think there is a problem with the screen itself as when I press 'on, # and *' the boot loader comes up. Also the exterior screen works and says 'charging' when I plug the charger in. But the main screen has just completely died and nothing works?! Please help!

Sounds like flex cable has come loose - you need to disassemble the top half of the phone and reseat it

Do you still think it's the flex cable though if the bootloader screen comes up? Because I can see that.

That's what I figured. but I don't have a clue what reflashing actually is. Could you explain it to me in laymans terms? And do I need the CD rom that came with the phone to be able to reflash it?
Thanks, I appreciate any help you can give me!

interesting, my phone JUST started doing this today as well. i'm not sure, but it could be a battery problem as well? my phone also works just fine when it is pluged into the charger, either in my car OR at home, both the phone and the screen power up, thats what leads me to believe that it's a battery problem. the only difference is that my phone never could be detected on my computer. would like to know how to fix this as well, =/

Hmm. I don't think it's a battery problem with mine as the battery is brand new. also when I do the bootloader thing, I get a message telling me the battery is fine. Who knows!

Try Flashing the phone on Motorola Software Update

URL for Motorola Software Update:

http://direct.motorola.com/hellomoto/Motosupport/source/SoftwareUpdate Select.asp

From http://nghtshd.googlepages.com/v3ttips "I installed MSU, charged the phone, powered it on in bootloader mode, and connected it to the PC. MSU recognized the phone and rewrote the firmware. 1/2 hour later I was up and running again with all functionality and settings as straight out of the box.

I've done this twice -- the second time I bricked it deliberately so I could use MSU again to wipe out some bad changes I'd made. Worked fine both times. Makes me a lot more comfortable messing with my phone."

This might fix the problem if it is the software and get you back to square one.

Good Luck and Happy Modding!
