hey everybody:

I'm thinking of switching to Cingular, b/c although Verizon has great reception in my area, the way they cripple phones, and the restrictions they put on the phones is driving me nuts. Besides, I dont know how long I'll last with the red VZW banners on EVERY PHONE.

So, what do you think of the service, support etc? Also, what phone should I get, Im looking at either the Moto RAZR V3xx, or the LG CU500, or the SYNC.

Thanks for all your help,
.VZ(hopefully Cingular in a few days)

I, for one, have been satisfied with Cingular for over 4 years now. When I have an issue (3 to date), it's resolved reasonally fast and by a helpful CSR. When my first V3xx died, I had a new one overnight. And I'm happy with the V3xx in spite of the first one dying after a month.

I'm certain the T-Mobile crowd will roll in here telling you how wrong I am and how bad Cingular is. You'll have to make up your own mind about what is what. As for me, I don't take being called a liar lightly. And I also don't give a damn what company anyone uses, I'm simply answering your question, for better or worse.

i've heard ppl saying that Cingular is a bit sketchy and their add for the fewest dropped calls is false, but i always thought it depends on where you are

i have t-mo, no complaints, other ppl i know have cingular and they dont really have much to complain about, but its all down to your preference

go for the Sync, i think it looks nice and i always thought samsung was a good quality product, and for the price of the Sync at moment with the features, its really good deal, IMO

Vz010---you traitor! ha ha just kidding.if I were you I'd stick with CDMA---I've worked for and used both and if you don't travel much overseas you'd be better off with Alltel or---God forbid---Sprint.

Actually, it is not false.
it's a nationwide AVERAGE.
Doesn't mean your area isn't crap.
But we also have roaming agreements with T-Mo and other companies, so our service also relies off of them and vise versa.

i have had att/cing/att for about 3 years now and have never had a prob w/ any of my phones,

im not going to lie and say i dint drop calls it happnes occasonaly ,

im not going to lie and say cingular has the best customer service, like any comany ther will be retards ansering the phone who dont knw ther head for there asshole.

and im not gonna lie and say youll NEVER have an issue with your bill, its possible, computers glitch things happen.

but i have been very satisfied with my service and coverage, i just bought the lg cu500 a few months ago and i havent had any issues as of yet , but as everyone has said dont take our words for it you have 30 days to try cingular and see if you like it and if it works for you.

Just some added info
1)NEVER use a 3rd party to start up service.
2) Cingular bill monthy servcie fees a month in advance, expect your first bill to be high.
3) Avoid best buy like its the plauge they will screw up your account.
4) Please for the love of god read you COMPLEETE bill before you call in upset about it.

My wife and I are Realtors. The phone is VERY important to us. A few months ago, we finally got fed up with Cingular's poor customer service, dropped calls and old voicemails. The latter was the worst part. We lost a major deal because we received a voicemail 23 hours after the caller left it. So we switched all 4 of our phones to Verizon. Unfortunately, one of the phones was still under contract so they keep sending me a bill for $183. I told them that the contract was two ways. Their part was to provide the Advertised service. So, I ain't gonna pay them. I just wish they would stop sending me the bill.

so your mad because you base you source of income solely on a cell phone? honestly i wouldn’t buy anything from someone who didn’t have an "office" number to be reached at, even if its just a answering machine hooked up to a wall jack , if your such a big wig relater you can afford a land line.

I would really like to stay with verizon, but man they're killing me with all the restrcitions on the phones, and why do they have to implement a standard menu system? I hate the menu, ad i realize that CDMA does generally have better clarity, and securer connections, but eventhough GSM is lower, cingular is looking more attractive everyday.

Does anyhbody know if VZW has plans to loosen its grip on the menu ordeal?

No, I am mad because this was one of several times I had poor service from Cingilar. I had complained several times as well but the CSR's are uneducated and challenged. You obviously don't understand real estate. If I was to stay at the office, I would starve. We are constantly with clients and developing business. For realtors the phone is the MOST important tool. We even use it to open doors.
