the easiest way is with the included micro SD card and a usb adapter then drag the files you want onto the card then when installed in phone select the files through media center and set as wall papers or set as ring tones
i have done it this way many times but also use a webjal program and usb cable

It is sometimes very difficult to find solutions of what you are trying to get it most. Sometimes you gets information, but irrelevant. This is all happening around us. We are continously searching things to our benefit.
I'm here to explain the best way to download ringtones to your mobile phones.
It is very casual to see that someone offer free or total free download ringtones for your cellular phones, in fact they also offer such free services to your carriers as well. This is all wasting of time to find them and trying to approach such bad service providers.
Always choose legal services providers who are eligble to give or provide such services to their consumers. I met different people around the world and found unsatisfactory by their celluar companies. This is what a missconception created by illegal service providers amongst those who actually providing good services.
The method to download ringtones to your mobile phone:
The best way to select your ringtones to choose first legal services providers, such as www.ringtonesww.com. This service provider provides real services to their consumer, I'm also a consumer and have their services on very cheap prices. They provide 5-10 bonus or complementary ringtones each month. The amazing thing I've found there a big ringtones services provider i.e. Jamster. The biggest name in online Ringtone service sites is arguably JAMSTER--a powerhouse with lots of Complementary deals and ringtones to choose from. JAMSTER has definitely established themselves as the top player in the mobile lifestyle arena the past few years. Nevertheless, they could do better with their success and provide active rather than reactive customer service.
Don't you worry about the downloading method, here it is:
First, simply choose your ringtone carrier from the list they mentioned there. Sprint, Cingular, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, AllTel, CellularOne, Nextel, Dobson, or Boost. If your carrier is not one of these listed above, or you do not know who your carrier is, select the option "Other Carrier". Then download your ringtone. That's it!

It took me a few days but I finally figured it out.
I won't get into making the actual MP3 clip to use for the ringtone. This is just how to convert the clip to get the i580 to recognize it as such:
It must be in this MP3 format.
Bit Rate: 32 kbps; Sample Rate: 8 000 Hz; Channels: 1 (mono).
You can use whatever MP3 converter program you like. Fortunately the first one I downloaded had what I needed. It is called dBpoweramp Music Converter. At the top of the converter it gives you choices of Bit Rate. Set it to "Bit Rate (CBR)" <-- Constant Bit Rate AND to 32kbps.
Under "ENCODING" click "ADVANCED". This is where you get the choice of sample rate. dBpoweramp refers to it as "Frequency". Set it to 8Khz (which is the same as above 8,000 Hz). Below "Frequency" is "Channel". Set it to "1-mono".
These settings give you what the i580 recognizes as a Ringtone. Once you have converted your clip the easiest way to get it onto your i580 is to use your SD Card that comes w/ the phone. Download your converted MP3 file to your SD Card (might need an SD card reader, use a camera w/ SD card as a portable drive, etc.) and then set it as a ringtone. I read a lot of stuff on how to convert files and download them for Nextel. It isn't that hard once you finally have the piece of info you need.
Bit Rate: 32 kbps; Sample Rate: 8 000 Hz; Channels: 1 (mono). <-- THE FORMAT FOR RINGTONES ON THE i580.
The phone just won't recognize it as a ringtone until it is in this format. (THIS IS JUST FOR MP3. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT .WAV FILES, ETC. BUT IF YOU USE THE CONVERTER IT WILL CONVERT ALL TYPES OF FILES TO MP3)

Ringtones has a habit of speaking up, usually to plug his own website. I hope that he has permission for the administrators of this website to advertise on it as he/she has, if not he is breaking the rules of the website, and since he seems to only be here to advertise, then it would be little loss if he got banned.
As for transferring ringtones and wallpapers from your i730, I've never encountered a way to do it, although I wouldn't say that is impossible, as ringtones and wallpapers are stored on the phone itself. Sometimes you can get Sprint/Nextel to reimburse you for the ones that you had, so that you can repurchase them for your new phone.
One thing more about Ringtones and his suggestion, the ringtones aren't free, you are signing up for a monthly service, so if you're going nuts on ringtones and wallpapers, maybe it is worth it, if not, getting them one at a time through Sprint direct is better.
