Hi all,
It has been several months since my last visit. My husbands phone has been fine. He was in Missouri this week end at a Kansas City BBQ school. The phone says initial programing needed. I checked the "sticker" inside the battery compartment it is blue instead of red. I asked him about getting it wet, he said, not anything that he noticed. Now I gotta tell you, I have seen a CSR in a store open a battery compartment and say the indicator on the battery says it got wet, sorry there is nothing we can do. So of course I am expecting the same roadblock.
I have an LG 5300 he has an Samsung a870. I took both covers off the batteries, the way they have changed the battery compartments from our first phones, makes me think the phones are being set up to fail. It looks to me like if you should happen to set the phone where there was a ring of water from a glass that it would just flow right in. There is no lip on the edge curling up around the battery it is just a seam. Now I'm not normally a negative person who is paranoid or looking for something to gripe about, but I think the battery compartment needs a little better construction, like they used to.
Aaaaaaanyway, I am hoping that the fact the screen is asking for initial programming means it has recovered. I have taken everything apart, laid it out on the back of my computer monitor to let it blow slightly warm are around it. Last night I stored it, dissembled , in one of my 3 year old granddaughter's overnight diaper, she wasn't wearing it at the time and yes, it was unused. Of course it is still asking for initial programming and every time I open it the screen shows power saver mode. I know I should call Verizon, but it is more fun the get answers from all of you. Can I go on the web site and program it myself as if it is a different phone. What do you think? ? Anyone?
Peace

Hello Tam
I am so glad to hear from you. You were so kind and helpful to me before.
Now I'm scared, I had tried that several times. It always comes up unsuccessful. I just figured I needed the big guns to program it. So, now to analyze what happens when I did the 228* thing. I don't think it really connects. The minutes and seconds don't tick away like mine does. I don't hear prompts to program. I wondered if the receiver was working. Sound wise, I hear the tone of the keys and the prompt sounds, but nothing through the ear piece itself. I guess connecting and and hearing through the ear piece seem to be the issues. I just unfolded the phone and programing unsuccessful is still on the screen meaning issue #3 is it is not really hibernating. I checked the clam shell, the case doesn't seem to be sprung. This is why I am worried about the indicator in the battery compartment. It has never been dropped. Oh yeahhh! The earpiece works. I just checked voice commands and I could hear. Well now, here is a big issue. No bars, no signal, the cell tower is in a corn field 1/8 of a mile away. The antenna is in the case on the Samsung 870. The seam of the battery compartment is just below it. Surly moisture wouldn't affect the antenna, would it?
Thanks,

Worked with very nice CSR and then Tech Support. They couldn't get the software to hold. Just kept searching for service. They even located the identification of the cell tower by my house and had me enter it into the programing myself. Johnathan was very patient told me to go look for my husband old phone while he waited so we could activate it. Told me not to worry about him having to wait, take my time to find it so the hubby will have a working phone. I can't say enough about the kindness, helpfulness, and I was blown away by their patience with me, both CSR and Tech. New replacement phone will be sent.
