I really want to get the new Motorola Krzr but I have and old AT&T plan (and I will never switch b/c it's dirt cheap). Right now I have a basic phone, the Samsung x426. I want to know if I buy an unlocked Krzr on eBay, can I just stick in my current sim card? Will this work? Or am I stuck with my dinosaur phone as long as I am using this old ATT plan?

Should work ok - you will need to update settings if you want to use internet or mms

also by useing an unlocked phone/ non cingular branded, you may or may not have full data access, even though it is a phone cingular currently offers

what does not having full data access mean? i don't go online on my cell ever. all i need is to talk and send txt messages. will any of that be affected?

You will be fine with calls and text. You may have to put in a message center number for text which you can get from the old phone.

I have to warn you that you will not receive the text of any text message that is sent from an e-mail address to your cell phone. You will see the that a message was received, but you will not be able to read it. I have been from board to board and not one person has been able to provide a solution yet.
For me it sucks, because I used to get a number of alerts sent to my phone and now I can't receive any of them.
Text messaging from mobile to mobile will be fine though.

wow that sucks, thanks for telling me that. i actually get a lot of text msgs from people sending it to my number via aim (this is different than me actually going online on my cell and using the aim program which i dont even kno how to do, ya kno wut i mean?), do you think i will still be able to receive those kinds of msgs on a new krzr?
Well, if you send to a phone from an email, it then becomes an MMS Message, and you need to setup your internet AND MMS settings to get those messages.
You should be able to text to an aim
