Someone please help.my phone got dropped into a bowl of chicken noodle soup (long story.i was sick etc lol) I took it out immediately and dried it off. I turned the phone off and let it dry and when i turned it back on the buttons do not work. The power button will only turn the phone on but not off. Everything in my phone is still the same. All my numbers are still in it and everything works fine except for the buttons (i can use my headset to dial out and whatnot). Is there anything i can do to try and fix it? Please help!

Sounds like you got some "chunks" stuck under the buttons , sorry , anyway wait a few more days it takes a little longer for the air to get under there try a blow dryer. I will also warn you not to try to disassemble the phone yourself unless you have the tools to do so. On the back of the phone when the slider is up on either side of the word bluetooth you will see to gray indentations these are rubber plugs covering the screws it's a security screw which needs a special bit readily available on the internet but unless your sure get someone else to do it. I should also mention that if you try to use anything other than the required bit you will undoubtedly strip the screw .Good Luck

I have the same problem with mine, that I actually found on the road. Being curious I picked it up, looked at it, yeah. it was wet alright. Found a charger a couple days later, threw it on, it charges fine and everything. It has the same problems that you mentioned, connecting the battery instantly powers it on and a nonresponsive keypad or side buttons. If I can find a guide that shows the disassembly process I might be able to clean it out. I opened it up quite a ways and sure enough there's mineral deposits all over the thing. Cleaning what I could didn't seem to do the trick, so there must be some way to take this thing apart even further than I figured out. I might try a distilled water rinse or something else that can "wash" out the mineral deposits without damaging the phone. Are mineral spirits bad for electronics that have no voltage going through them if they're allowed to dry properly?

I really have nothing to lose with this phone except for the 5 bucks I bought the charger with (and the time I spent tinkering around with this, but hey; gotta have some sort of hobby, right?), but I'll be sure to keep you posted on what I find and hopefully compile a neat little guide as I'm sure this is a pretty popular phone. icon_grin.gif

That's odd mine has a torx head screw i guess they got lazy . Did you get the frame around the screen off to expose the buttons? You have to get the buttons off to see what's going on under them . If you don't feel comforable then bring it to a tmo store let them do it .

Yes 99% of the time that's why there's no current flowing , mineral deposits are bad for electronics they create more resistance in the circuit like when your battery posts get corroded, same scenario . I have not completely disassembled my t629 but looking at it and reading what you two have said i would use a couple of strategically placed blasts of WD40 in the slot that the slider runs on and work it in .There are contacts in there they might be gunked up and WD is the best and won't ruin the phone .

Please share with me how to take this casing off. All of the screws have been removed but it still will not come apart around the screen. I have tried many ways with no luck there has got to be another trick?

Again i have not disassembled my phone but i would have to believe that they would not make it so the frame just came off. There are probably notches around the perimeter of the frame that need to be carefully pried apart with a jewellers screwdriver. I've come across this frequently when disassembling remotes and other electronic devices for cleaning and such .

I've heard soaking it in alcohol and/or putting it in the oven on WARM setting will help fix a bathed phone.
