My RAZR V3 worked fine for few months. Now it gives message "enter unlock code", however, the keypad would not accept any entry. Motorola would not accept warranty because out of north america purchase. Can someone please help.

I have tried all these - In fact worked with Motorola rep and finally they gave up with comments this could be software issue leading to hardware diability - they would not cover it under warranty as it is apurchase outside north america. Please note I can go to the bootloader screen by following the process in some of the threads.

You can flash a monsterpack - this will eliminate software as the cause

Thanks for reply - couple of questions before I attempt to flash. Is it necessary to backup, if so, how? Also, where can I find the flash file? Please note I have downloaded the following file from one of the sites(is this monsterpack for flash)?
R374_G_0E.42.10R_PDS005_LP0039_DRM0001_JPJAVA_G_0E_V3_01_10R_GSMV3xxT6 77GA164_1FF.shx
Currently I have following on the cell:
Boot loader: 08.26
SW Ver: R374-G-0E.42.0AR

That file should be fine. Backup any data or files you want to keep

I believe I am getting close - I don't have any phone book entry or any other user specifc file to save. I assume in this case no need to backup; basically I don't know how to backup because the RSD Lite that I plan to use for flash does not give me any option of backup.
Another thing, do I need to change the boot loader (some of the threads talk of down grading to 7.0D or something)?

No - there is no need to downgrade just to flash.
The best way to make a total backup is Flashbackup 3 - but this isn't freeware

one more thing.originally my phone is "open" It was not locked and I was able to use any service provider that offers service with SIM cards. With flash would it become locked?
Also, can I flash without SIM inserted?
