So my flex cable is messed up. I'd like to fix it.
Problem is that it's halfway up the hinge, and I have no idea how to take that part of the phone (A RAZR V3)apart.
If theres any confusion to what I mean:
The phone, when opened (as it is a flip-phone) has two basic sections
A screen, and a keypad. These are held together by a hinge in the middle of the two.
Now, upon taking the phone apart, I find that the flex cable runs from the keypad to the screen (more or less) via the hinge.
Now for the question. How do I get the flex cable out? Do I have to take the screen part and the keypad part.apart? seperate the two? Or is there some other trick that I don't know. Either way, it isn't outlined in ajays manual.
Thanks for the help

hi. what's your phone model?
if its a V3, then here:
http://www.4shared.com/file/12979167/2b140982/Taking_the_Razr_apart.ht ml
if it's another model. then google it as "full house installation ." adding your phone model.
the flex cable runs from the mainboard (behind the keyboard) up to upper flip part. it's delicate and you gotta be careful with it cuz it manages both LCDs and also the camera (if any) and earphone.
Hope that helps
pd. you will need a T6 screwdriver (or different size according to your phone model) Cheers

Thank you for your quick reply.
To clear things up, yeah I have a V3.
Few problems though. As I somewhat hinted at in my previous message (sorry for not outright saying it), I've already completely disassembled my phone, aside from taking the two main chunks apart at the hinge
Problem numero dos is that the file you linked me to is identical to the file I referred to as "ajay's manual (as he is the writer)"
The file sent doesn't explicitly say how to get the flex cable out. As far as being careful is concerned, I don't really have to be, as my phone is broken (hence the disassembly) and the flex cable is the source of my trouble. I would, however, like to know what I'm doing when I try to replace it.
Thanks again for your's and anyone else's help

oops. sorry about that manual. didnt see that part. oh well. here is another guide. more complete:
http://www.4shared.com/file/12980701/6ff8afd8/Motorola_V3_disassembly_ guide.html
Hope this one helps you to take apart your V3 in order to take the flex cable out.
and so you know. the flex cable is the short yellow flat cable between the keypad and the main LCD. you can get one on ebay or internet. in case. it;s still working. then just get the parts for the hinge.
good luck
