I am not sure if this is the right place for this topic but here goes.
Has anyone run into the problem with insuring new phones when the model has just come out on the market?
I recently purchased a Samsung A707 and requested insurance on it, as I always do. A month after I bought it I dropped it in the bathtub. So I called Cingular and was told I did not have insurance because the insurance company won't insure a top end, new model until it has been out on the market for at least a year. And of course, you only have 30 days to add insurance. But they never said anything to me when I bought the phone, didn't even tell me that it was uninsurable. I would have chosen a phone that I could insure.
This is a catch 22 for the customer, you pay a lot for a new phone but can't insure it until the bugs are worked out, by you and others like you, and then you are past the time period to add insurance.
Has anyone else run into this problem?

truth be it known cingular does not decide what phone can be insure or not. the insurance company does. call them.
Cingular only handles the billing as a convienience to the customer

yea i know that. i have tmobile and i was going to buy a non branded phone and then called asurion to see if they would cover it and wouldnt . so im not going to buy a phone for say 500 and not have it insured haha but thats weird that they dont cover phones that come out right away.
