my phone broke down.it wasnt connecting to the sprint network.so i took it to the service store

i have the equipment protection on the phone.and they gave me a new phone (same model) since they couldnt fix it and took the broken one.

my question is r they still supposed to charge you $50?.i thought it was only when u dont return your "lost/stolen" phone and you get it replaced.

i feel kinda ripped off here since it was one of those free phones dont think the $50 was worth it for it.

also is it possible for me to upgrade my phone.say like get the moto q.and i pay the difference between the prices .how does this work anyways?
they wouldnt let me get a new phone.saying i will have to wait untill like 4month or so when i'm eligible for a $150 towards a new phone (but isnt this w/ a 2year contract?)

please shed some light .here thanks allot

that 50 bux was the insurance deductable. the insurance for your phone is underwritten by an insurance company. not the carrier

To further explain. The 'free' phone is not a free phone, it usually runs $150+, and were you to have to replace it without the insurance that is exactly what you would pay.

I Always Get The Insurance. My Phones Are Usually At Least 200 In Cost Retail. Saved Me Big Money Before. I Only Had To Pay 35 For A 300 Dollar Phone. But That Was Two Years Ago.

That is really weird that they charged you the $50. I have the equipment protection which is $7 dollars a month now and my phones tend to mess up alot so they always give me other ones but they never charge me $50 dollars. They only charge you $50 when you loose your phone or it gets stolen. Now about upgrading I don't really know about that.

Asurion is who Alltel goes through, Nextel goes through Signal, not sure who Sprint uses.

The $7 dollar a month Total Equipment Protection, is a fix it or replace it solution. If it is fixable, there is no cost to you, all set. If it is not fixable, then it is replaced through the insurance, and the $50 is the deductible for the replacement. It's called Total Equipment Protection, because it is both the Service plan, and the Insurance plan.
