19 year old Son bought razor v3m. Recently it has been freezing. The screen turns white and he has to take the battery out, then put the battery back in and re start it. He has insurance on the phone, problem is that when he took the battery out the water dot was RED! he has never gotten the phone wet. Does anyone know if Verizon will fix or replace the phone when the dot is red. How did the dot get red when he never got it wet? He isnt qualified to upgrade until 2008! Any Suggestions?

The dot has to get at least damp to turn red. There is no warranty if the dot is red.

It's really puzzling as to how the dot got wet, since it was never put in water!
My oldest son went swimming with his before so we knew how the dot turned red, but this son has no idea how the dot got wet! It is in his pocket most of the time until he goes to bed.
It is troubling to think that verizon will not fix the phone even though it was not abused!

So far as they are concerned the dot being red is proof of abuse.
If you were unscrupulous you might purchase some of the white dots off ebay and swap them out (there will be one in the phone internals too)
I have heard of the dot turning red after being in very humid environments, including in a pocket during sports.
However without wanting to insult you or your son its most likely he isn't telling you everything.

I have heard about the white dots on ebay, but i dont believe in being dishonest. I would rather he buy a new phone then to lie.
It is just frustrating to have to pay for something he did not do.

I've seen a dot misrepresent H20 damage from condensation gathered by breathing, left in a car overnight. And another by a phone being in the bathroom while the shower was running. Moisture in general can tear a phone up, or at least the dots.

My son has left his phone in the car. Hard to believe that could do it. If it is that sensitive maybe verizon should rethink the dot thing all together, but then again, they are making out like bandits. THey dont honor the insurance and they make you buy another phone.

Well, the condensation was from a person's breathing in the car all night. The dot thing is by the manufacturers. And for water damaged phone, you should still be able to use the insurance claim. Lost, stolen, or damaged. And H20 damage falls in the category, insurance is about the only thing for it.

If you have insurance then it WILL be honored. It's the manufacturer (NOT VERIZON WIRELESS) that is not honoring the warranty. We can't take back a phone that the manufacturer will not accept back.

Tampadelphian,
I have read on these forums that verizon wont touch your phone if the dot is red, insurance or not. Is this incorrect?
