Has anyone replaced the outer glass lens on a krzr? Mine is broken and I have ordered a new lens but I started to take the other one off and it cracked really bad. Is there a trick to replacing the glass?

You just have to pull it off - the existing glass WILL crack very badly. Just make sure to clean off all the dust afterwards, but perversely you will need to leave the glue on if possible - the new glass probably will come without glue

If I need more glue what kind should I use? Will super glue work?

One more question. how do you change the background on the small display on the front of the phone? It comes in white and I can't figure out how to change it to a picture or a different color?

I wouldn't use super glue - it would be too permanent. It doesn't need to be particularly strong - the factory glue is too strong IMO.
When the flip is closed it shows the inner screen wallpaper. You can only change the pic when the flip is open.

I hope this will help some of you who have broken the glass on your krzr.
I ordered the replacement glass from an ebay vendor from china for $10. It came in a timely manner and was exactly what I ordered.
If you've searched the web and found disassembly instructions you should know that you don't need to remove anything from the back of the phone. The sites I found were not very clear about this.
Use your fingernails and gently pry the plastic bezel away from the sides and the top. It is held on primarily by double stick tape. Be patient and it will come off. It is possible to remove the broken glass at this point, but I would recommend removing the 4 torx screws so the entire metal bracket that holds the glass can be taken off the phone. The glass is held to the bracket with double back tape and it is a mess to get off. I did not have the torx screwdriver so I suffered through carefully breaking away many little pieces. It would be safer and faster to remove the bracket before removing the glass.
Once the old glass has all been removed just stick the new one in it's place. The glass I bought came with the double stick tape already in place. I put it softly in place then snapped the plastic bezel back on then made some small adjustments to the glass' location then firmly pressed it in place. Remember it's glass so I would not recommend pushing with your fingertips.it might crack the new one. I put a towel on a flat surface and pressed the entire phone down on that.
Good luck.

My wife broke her screen for the KRZR, I first removed the bezel by first pushing my finger nail underneath and running it around all sides until it came off. I found I did not need to remove the screws, I firstly again forced my nail under the glass at the top, once I had got underneath I went around all sides with a craft knife, then finally extending the craft knife so that the exposed blade was wider than the phone starting at the top between the phone and the glass gently move the blade to the bottom of the phone the glass will come away. Place the new on top and place the bezel back before turning the phone upside down and placing on a firm surface. Apply pressure to the back. Job done

i want to replace my peace with anything BUT GLASS! this is the 3rd time iv broken it. anyone know of anything>?
ps. the ones from china are not shatter proof like the factory ones. so if you broke your factory one. keep it. lol atleast it wont turn to shards the next time you break it. and i guarantee you will, if you have once allready.

I have figured out that a CD case's plastic is perfect width for the krazor front glass peice. and i cut it out (carefully). and it fits perfect. and i got to draw my own cool picture on the backside to. this is awsome. it seems way stronger to. no flex when i push on it, way more durable. and costs 0 dollars. took all of 1 south park episode to do.
step 1 find a cd case.
step 2 trace. (if you can) the front peice(s) with an exacto knife.
step 3 carv deep into the lines. than simply snap off the remaining scraps.
step 3. colour the back black (or whatever.)
step 4. place into the spot.
step 5. say Thanx chase!

One more improvement. After you take off the bezel, loosen the double stick tape/glue with an iron before you try to take it off. Get a dish towel (fairly thin) and iron and put the iron on a low/medium heat setting (my iron has 1-9, i started at 2 and went up to 3). I turned the steam off (water & electronics don't mix).
Cover the phone with the dishtowel and put the iron on top of it. About every 2 minutes check the phone to ensure it's not getting too hot (you should be able to touch the surface and it should feel uncomfortably warm, but not scorching). that you can't touch it.
Check about every 5 minutes with an exacto/retractable knife to see if you can pull the glass up. I was able to get my cracked glass off without any additional pieces breaking off, just by using the xacto knife to pry while the glue was hot. Take your time on this step, if you take it off too quickly you'll have a bunch of cleanup work to do with Goo Gone. I recommend a minimum of 15 minutes of heating to help keep the residual double stick backing on the lens, and not on the phone.
I would also recommend per trees to remove the 4 torx screws (bit size 5). I had to create mask for the LCD screen out of paper while I was using Goo Gone to remove the remaining double stick tape residue.
One final tip. There's a pad inside behind the rewind, play/pause & fast forward buttons that is connected by two small data ribbons. If you are using a knife, stop short of this area so that you don't cut the ribbons. The ribbons are only about a 1/4" long so you need to make sure you unstick the control pad from the broken lens before you completely remove the broken lens.
