I have a razr v3 and i contacted t-mobile to get my unlock code. They told me i need to have a foreign sim card to use the unlock code. Is there a way to unlock it without the sim card, or to get one for cheap, like 5-10 dollars. I saw some but they were for around $50.

It just means another sim (e.g Cingular). I think there is a code for TMobile phones in place of SIM but I would have to look it up - although why would you want to unlock without another sim?

My contract w/ tmobile is almost done, and i know if i switch to some other service my phone will be useless unless i can unlock it.

This only works on t-mobile branded phones:
Press the menu button (dont hold it down, just press it) then 073887*
You will get a prompt asking for your 6 digit security code (your code is set under your security settings) default code is 6 zeros. 000000
Enter the code, then you will go into a programming menu with 2 options: browser setup, unlock sim
Select unlock sim and then enter the code tmobile gave to you.
