A few things...

I never turn the phone off since I don't use a landline. I HAVE a landline, but it stays connected to the notebook for a faxline, no phone plugged in. I keep a charged spare battery handy in case I run the main one down with no charger handy and I swap batteries every couple of weeks to spread the wear and tear. My Razr gets a little ginchy after 3 or 4 days, so I cycle it off and back on about that interval.

If you hate cellphones ringing in public, then you're in the wrong century. People should set their phones to vibrate or silent when in church or a hospital (Hospitals pretty much forbid cellphones even in the building) the movies or other quiet areas. People should also not fart in public, blow smoke in your face, run stop signs, and change their baby's diapers on the serving counter at the fast food places icon_nuke.gif icon_ninja.gif . But unfortunately, they do (and that last one is soooo gross, I have to leave on that note) and we will have to suffer these indignities pretty much forever. Of the above, ringing cellphones seem to be the least of the evils.
