I have basic Verizon ($39/mo) contract started in Nov 06 and want out, if you know anyone looking to assume the 7 months left. Will include phone for free except postage, Samsung SCH-a870, works great, camera, flash, speaker. (Sorry if this is double post, I couldn't find original post anywhere.) Email 'dress should show, I think. thanks.

When the account gets transferred there is a one year minimum contract that would apply to the person assuming liability. Not to upset anybody, just informing of what may happen when this goes through. Try discussing with them if there's anything that can be done, and if they check with a supervisor accept the first response.

Oops, my contract was really a two year, so there is 19 months left. What info do I need about the person taking over my contract? I found an interested second party locally. Do I need all the same (employment, credit, etc) info I filled out in my contract?
thanks,

Just call the call center and have them auth the person's full name noted for an assumption of liability, or billing responsible change. I would make sure they note the account for the authorization specifically for that, and nothing else, just for security purposes in case it doesn't happen. And follow up with your account to make sure it's in the person's name before giving them your phone. When they call to VZW, we'll make sure they know the terms and conditions, aware of any deposits based on credit check, and aware the contract will be minimum of one year. The price plan will have to be current, too, which can be changed upon the responsibility change.
