i'm partial to the bar style phones also. but i have the 9900, and i use it closed more than with it open. i have it synced to my corporate email, and internet,. that's the only reason i use it with it open!

I have a much different lifestyle, I need a phone with 4 qualifications:

-Greater than 1 megapixel camera
-Music Player with more than 512 MB (1GB preferred)
-Internal antenae, no stub
-Candybar

Am I too picky or what? I just want a phone that can take good pictures and replace my mp3 player.

doesn't sound too picky. merging 2 items(cell phone mp3 player) is super. thats the point right?

well. you could do the slvr. or the chocolate. as far as the memory, you'll need to get a memory card. they get as large as 2 gig. internal memory isn't great on any of our phones.

also i work for vzw, so if you have ?s just let me know.

Okay. (:
I like the pink chocolate, but I like the SLVR better. The slider layout is weird. But a VGA camera? What gives? I hear the L7e has a 1.3 mp, but you have to buy it unlocked. Is there hope?

There's no hope, not for a while with the SLVR we're getting. I'd still say wait a bit for another candy bar style phone, or another that catches your eye. The Chocolates are too new right now as well. The first model of phones are like first model of cars, bound to have issues if there's a new feature, like the touch sensitive outside. So now there's a lot of defects and the screens dying out on the Chocolate phones. More function than not, however. There's no way of an unlocked SLVR to be programmed for VZW, and if it was possible some features would likely be lost.

I think I'm just going to get the silver SLVR from my local Verizon store, I don't want to wait that long for a new candybar that catches my eye, and I am very wary about buying a brand new model anyway. SLVR has been out for a while so I can hope it will be glitch free. Oh, and the camera is still better than the one I have right now because it can take higher resolution pics. Thanks for your help guys!

It's been out for a while for other carriers, but not Verizon. There's just appeared on their site this week.

I got one yesterday and am disappointed. USB, Bluetooth and MP3 capabilities on the Verizon version are definitely crippled. I have yet to find a way to get music or files onto this phone. The Verizon interface is ugly and filled with VCast advertisements.

Well, this may be news to you, but Verizon sucks. Hard. They always do that, it's like that on my phone right now.

Most the time when people can't get music to function on the phone it's a user error. It's getting more difficult to get your own music on there without purchasing the MEK. The interface is easy, just foreign if you're not used to it. Try starting with the VZW UI and then go to a different carrier, same issue. There's usually a way to get around the mp3 problem though.

Yes, there are ways getting around some of these things.but alot is not user error.

My brand new SLVR will not connect by USB, I have no CD (Mototools) and can't use it anyway. I run Mac, so I get crippled for that.
I have worked around syncing my numbers and calendar (through bluetooth), the bluetooth issues, but CANNOT get the external card to read while in the phone (except through bluetooth-but cannot remove anything), much less get anything TO the phone. I can get pictures on through the card in a card reader and get them off, but no music or ringtones etc. There is NO "format card" on this verizon phone, like it says there is in the owners manuals, much less able to transfer them off the card. You apparently have to use .wma format for music.? Bluetooth does not work when the external card is in either. So, I would say there is some "crippling" involved and not JUST user error.
