Has anyone been able to change the Cingular name on their phone? I tried every method I could find without luck.
I was able to change the name but then my voice mailbox didnt work. It kept saying I had to setup a new mailbox. Another way I tried locked my phone in roaming mode.
I am open to ideas. My phone is a V3 Black using Cingular.
Also while I am asking questions.
I remember when I first bought my phone it had only AIM on it but now I seem to have yahoo also. While looking thru my phones files I found a splash screen and some icons for ICQ but I cannot access this on my phone. Any ideas?

You need to edit plmn table with opedit and make some seem edits - but it does cause some problems with Cingular - which it sounds like you are experiencing.
You could also use a different skin or edit your current one and just remove the operator text

Check out my Carrier name changing tutorial in the tutorials section and try to manually edit the Network name in the file instead of OP Edit, also a 1 or 2 seem edits may be neccessay to have it display correctly, Offset 4B and 00 I think, its in my tutorial
