I purchased a motorola L6 from cellhut last week, and I am a T-mobile customer. When I inserted T-mobile SIM card into my L6, the screen showed that the service provider is Cingular. I checked on the internet and it said that this is so call roaming, and it is really expansive. I am wondering how this happen and how can I solve this problem. Please help! thank you.

I would think if the phone is working but showing Cingular, that just means the phone is reading the carrier name from the tower instead of from the plmn_text_table.bin file in the phone (could be cured by a seem edit), and T-Mobile has a roaming agreement with Cingular there. (If they didn't, I'd think the phone would show "Emergency calls only" and not let you call anything but 911.)
If this is the case, you won't be charged for roaming anyway.

ya.that device is not t-mobile compatible right now.even a manual network selection wouldnt get you on the tmo tower. if it did connect to a tower, then i would be amazed! although it has happened before where non-tmo suppported devices connected to tmo towers.

if you can make phone calls, then your phoen is unlocked and that is good. it means you can put the sim card from any carrier in it and it will work.
Now.you may not be able to get rid of any cingular logo on the phone, but it sounds like your are simply connecting to a cingular tower. Almost all plans inclue natiowide roaming so you should not be charged for that unless you are on a 3000 minute plan.
You may need to get t-mobile network settings in your phone.
These settings can be sent over the air to your phone, or you can call t-mobile and they can show you how to do it.
Don't panic! Just call customer service and talk to them
Here is the link to download the settings for your phone.

t-mobile customers can use "roaming partners" towers, that includes cingular. If your phone didn't reject the sim (you wouldn't get to the main menu) then you are fine. I would just have t-mo software sent to your cell phone. Customer care or Tech can do that for you, just call them. However if your on cingular's network 611 will not get t-mo customer care. FYI
