Hi, I recently acquired a V3 RAZR.
It currently has no SIM card; although it has T-Mobile printed on the back of the battery door, I believe it's a Cingular phone (at least that's the logo that displays when powered on).
My question is, with a new SIM card, could this phone be used with any new service? Cingular? VZW?
Moreover, if I need to get a new SIM card, is there a particular type I need? or will any compatible SIM card work?

Input welcome.

Certainly not verizon - they are CDMA and don't use SIM cards.

It sounds like the phone might be unlocked but really you will only know when you insert the SIM for different provider

Alright, then that brings me to the other issue, of what SIM card. So on that note, what type of SIM card should I get?
I've been out of the game, so to speak, for some time now. There seem to be several different kinds, independent of provider. Does it matter? Will any SIM card work in this phone? What type should I get? icon_smile.gif

If its a GSM phone it will work with any GSM providers SIM card if it is unlocked. If its locked it will only work with the provider it is locked to and will need unlocking

Okay, thanks!

One more question though, what's the deal with these prepaid SIM cards, I see being sold online, etc?

If my phone is unlocked, could I simply purchase one of these, and use it to make calls, etc?
Moreover, could you give me an idea of what would be involved in activating it, and whatnot? (e.g. say I purchase one, stick it in the phone.)
