Hello. I'm a verizon CSR, and i just had a question with your(cingular) warranties.

our warranties are supplied by the manufactuer(motorola, LG, etc) and it only covers DEFECTS. not any sort of liquid damage, or physical damage.
The warranty is only for 1 year, Unless a customer purchases the extended warranty which is 5.99 a month, and it's good for 2 years. THAT covers everything. (physical damage as well as defects.)

Customer's come in an complain all the time with some sort of defect, be it dropped it in the toilet, or ran over it with their car. AND they declined the xtended warranty, AND they are outside of the manufacturer's warranty. now, we can replace it in store, for $50.00 (if there is NO physical damage) same as if they had insurance. but that's never good enough. They want everything for free. and complain that "cingular's warranty is 100% better than verizon's"

could you actually tell me how your warranty works. please thanks

It is the same policy. The warranty doesn't cover physical or liquid damage. The one thing that IS better about Cingular's policy is you can handle everything over the phone. Unlike Verizon, who, in the western market anyways, will make you go into a store if you live within 50 miles of a direct store. Customers say the craziest things to see if it gets them anywhere.

yes, the customer has to come into a store, but they get the replacement phone right then and there. there's nothing to handle over the phone. and you don't have to wait for a new phone if your's doesn't work.

With Cingular they send you the phone, a box with the postage paid first. Then you send the old one back. If there is serious physical damage, they charge the new phone to your account. The only way water and physical damage is covered is if you have the lock/line insurance.

cing has NO extended warranty. cingular's warranty phones, except under highly unusual circumstances WILL refurbished phones. The replacement phone will NOT include a back or battery. You WILL be charged for the replacement phone if your old phone gets lost in the mail, is never sent back or turns out not to have had a warranty issue after all. You WILL NOT be able to buy a replacement phone for 50$ unless the phone you buy happens to cost that much anyways (i.e., a prepaid phone).

honestly, I like yours better sir / ma'am.

cheers.

yes. ours are refurbs also. and the same about getting charged for the phone if you don't send it back, or almost always lost in the mail. (we provide fed-ex tracking nums)

but outside of the 1 yr manufactures warranty, the xtended warranty will cover!
