Currently I'm eligible for a new phone. The problem is I know nothing about cell phone technology and I'm not sure what to get. I currently own a Audiovox CDM8910. I'd like to get something that's more up to date and sleek looking. I'm considering getting a Motorola RAZR V3m. Is this a good choice or is there something better? I would greatly appreciate any advice given. Thanks!

I would highly advise not to get the RAZR. I would say fashionable phones are for Motorola, but reliability will side with LG or Samsung more. I would recommend the enV phone, it seems to have the features everyone looks for and is very reliable.

Please dont. In my opinion the razr could be the worst phone ever made. Its one of the most returned phones ive ever seen! Like paperstreet said LG or Samsung. I would highly recommend the LG-vx8600 if you want something small like the razr. I use it and LOVE it!. The enV is a good choice too.

I ended up ordering the LG VX8600. I should be getting it pretty soon. Is it possible to put your own ringtones on this phone? I heard Verizon had a tendancy of blocking that sort of thing.

There will be complications when trying to get your own ringtones. You may be able to record your own tones by sending the sound to yourself, and saving it to your ringtone folder. But that's a backwards way of doing it. Getting your own music on there is a lot easier. I would look around at the ringtone creating software and purchase the music kit either way. People complain about that, but at least you get the cable you need, and you only pay once.

With all the complaints about batteries, talk time and standby time, note that the "slim" phone has a slim battery. This translates into less battery capacity. If you want to look cool that's fine, but if you want more performance, try something a little thicker and larger. A 600 MAH batttery will only give you 2-3 hours max talk time. A 900 MAH will give you 1/3 more on average and so on. I would at least consider this in any decision about a new phone.
