Long time T-Mobile customer that had been happy for the last 5 years here but I think we have come to a parting of the ways. I upgraded my phone this week to take advantage of the faves plan (my old v195 wasn't capable). Got the v195s and they also put a newer SIM in it (hey, I said long-time customer- I miss my old SIM icon_cry.gif )

Anyway, hours after getting my mother loaded as a fave it all went downhill. I tried to download a ringtone but the text message poofed. Call customer service. They tried resending. Nada. Zip. They tried a TEXT message to me. No go. This has been going for two days, can't add faves at the phone, it just hangs with an hourglass until you turn it off. Adding fave on the web you get the clock icon and a message that they can't text message my phone and I should turn it on. It is on - so after about five calls to customer service (they keep reminding me I am still in my buyer's remorse period) is it time to give up? Customer services gave me credit and time but are vague about whether this is an outage or just what is it?

I trust your experience. Should I maybe go back to the store and have them revive my old SIM or try another in this new phone? Googling hasn't helped me, it seems like the only outages in text messages/data/whatever are things like Sidekicks and this isn't. If a new SIM or phone doesn't work I don't think I have a choice but to turn and run. There was just a few months left on my old contract and I can live will my old plan until I can look for a new carrier.

It is the first time I have had any real trouble with them in five years. I can count on one hand how many dropped calls I have. And I live and work in a marginal area. But I am not going to pay for an upgrade that doesn't work. icon_sad.gif

Thanks for your input. I have been googling the net and near as I can see any text message outages (not just T-Mobile) cleared up Wednesday/yesterday tops. I am going to call customer service at lunchtime for one more go-round (is it an outage or not? why are they so vague? If it is, fine, do they have an ETA? Do they even know what is causing the outage? I just want them to stop trying to lay blame on the fact I am not sitting on cell phone tower in Alburqueue or something.sorry rant off) icon_sad.gif

I will try exchanging the phone/SIM tonight and try it out right there in store, I want them to send me a text message. No message, no go. I will cancel out of new deal under buyer's remorse.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry. I gave it one more shot with a telephone rep. She fixed it immediately. Their "network switch" for me was set to block text messages. She doesn't know what happened. I think possibly one of the techs may have switched it when they were troubleshooting during the original outage.

Things happen. Sad though that at least three reps I had called since the outage didn't notice it. I wrote a note saying how good she was in the email contact thing. Didn't get a badge number but I am sure they can find her from my record.

Cheers

CSR's are tough, no offense to anyone here but in my experience it always seemed to be best to call the after hour guys even thou it's not an emergency. They seem to know more.

im having a similar problem but i dont know if its tmobile or the phone itself. I just bought a brand new unlocked rokr last night. everything works fine but the only problem im having is my outgoing texts. at first when i went to outgoing texts the screen would freeze then this morning it stopped doing the freezing thing but now it doesnt want to send my messages; i somehow got lucky and was able to send one earlier today then it went back to the same problem.

What was the resolution to make your phone send picture messages? I'm having the same problem.

I have a RAZR V3 with T-Mobile service. It is an unlocked phone. The auto update time function does not appear to work. Any clues on how to make it work, i.e.; settings?
