Hello all,
Thank you in advance for your help.
I have a HTC 8525 on Cingular.
Here is my question.
I would like to know if I call Cingular *611 and have a CSR shut off data completley can I still send SMS messages?
I called *611 and they told me they can shut if off but it would kill messaging also. Would that only be MMS ability? If not what do or would I have to do to set up SMS messaging?
I know, I know about the data plan but it is not worth the $40. for me I need the PDA ability on my phone but do not need OTA email and usually where I am if I did I would have wifi so I will just use that.
Thank you again.

Texting technically takes up data, so yes if you block data, you automatically block texts.

while SMS (text messaging) is a data service it is independant of internet data. you can block one or both.however if you block text, MMS is also blocked

So technically, If I turn off my data pay per use, I could still send and receive sms text messages just no MMS messages?
