Can the Samsung u620 be used as an MP3 player? I don't want to pay Verison anything extra so I'm hoping to put MP3's from my computer to the phone and listen to them.

With every software update VZW gets better at blocking the outside, "free" music. If you purchased the cd for the music you'll be able to sync the songs to it, yes. I downloaded my songs from a pay site, and they transferred to the phone fine. I even editted some song files, and they can still sync to the device.

I went ahead and got the phone and the music essentials kit from Verizon and everything is working great. The kit comes with a data cable, a set of ear buds and soft ware. (that you can probably find on ebay) to sync your phone and Windows media player to let you transfer you music to the phone. As far as the phone contacts go I used the free "back up assistant" and was able to down load all of my contacts from my old phone to the new phone in about 2 minutes.
