I have a Motoroller Razr V3xx and have now added some MP3's.
Ive assigned some MP3's, as ringer id's, to my various contacts. When my friends ring me, it plays individual songs, a song for each contact. Cool, but.
When my friends TEXT me, it plays the MP3 also! The whole **** song!
Is there a way I can get the phone to simply beep when receiving a text (when a person with a ringer id set texts me).
Its so frustraiting!

I'm certain that with the V3, there is no way around this problem. I am beginning to believe that the same holds true for the V3xx. Pretty maddening to answer the phone thinking it's someone in particular and there's no response on the other end. In fact, sometimes I simply put the phone back in the holster not realizing that I have a text message. This is pretty bone-headed of Moto, but ahh, well, I guess I've learned to deal with it.

Nope!
Motorola said there is no way to differ the call or text!
She said it was a matter of personalising.
What is the point? Even if I used a standard ring tone, I cant tell if it is a text or call coming through!
Thid is a big letdown for this handset. It looks flexable but it is not!

One aspect of life is choosing battles. Which means that this issue may wreck your life, but to me, it's a small minus on an otherwise really good phone.
It's flexible in many other ways.but you may not think so.

Ok. I apoligize. But how did you get your mp3 music to go to your ringtones? I've tried everything & can't figure it out. I know you wanted an answer but if you could help me, you would be much appreciated!

Are you asking how to load the mp3s into your phone or are you asking how to set the mp3s as a ringtone?

how to set mp3 on the phone as ringtone. my phone is a v3c, only the tracks downloaded from telus have the option "apply as ringtone". the other ones transferred from motorola phone tools 4.0 like midi files and mp3 files doesn't seem to have the option to set as ringtones. is there other program i can use to set my mp3 as ringtones?
also, when i go to my alarm clock, i can use my downloaded ones as alarm, but it shows that it's .dma files, i tried to change the .mp3 to .dma but it wouldn't work.
