I bought a replacement 6800 on eBay. It was supposed to be unlocked. My carrier is Cingular. I put my Sim card into the new phone and turned it on. Two logos were displayed in sequence. The first was a Nokia logo and the second was a welcome display from T-Mobile. Following the T-Mobile display my Cingular screen appeared and I was able to dial and receive calls with the phone. When I tried to access my GPRS and text messaging, and announcement was displayed saying I need to subscribe to GPRS first. Another announcement followed saying "bearer unavailable". I bounced back and forth between Nokia, Cingular and T-Mobile technicians without succes. We (all noted and myself) did discover that there is no "connectivity" selection under the services/settings/ menu. There is a selection under services called t-zones. It appears that there are vestiges T-Mobile still in the phone. Is there a way I can introduce my Cingular GPRS and Text Messaging? Sorry for long-windedness; any help appreciated.

Text messaging shouldn't be a problem, but T-mobile uses a firmware that locks there browser and MMS settings from being changed. Take or send to a pro for original Nokia firmware (doesn't include AIM application).

You are right; I tried the text messaging again and it worked. Don't know why it did not work this morning but that part of my problems is solved.
When you note ". T-Mobile uses a firmware.", does that mean there is a physical attachment or modification to the circuitry in the phone?
Where would I look for a pro for the original Nokia firmware?
What is an AIM application?
Thanks in advance again for any additional help you might offer
