To be blunt.T-Mobile's phones aren't all that great, and I've been noticing some sleeker phones from LG & Samsung that I'm interested in, but they aren't T-Mobile phones, they are for companies like Sprint & Verizon.
Can I purchase phones from Sprint & Verizon and insert my T-Mobile sim? I've never purchased a phone that was NOT released from T-Mobile, so I'm kinda new to it.

Yes. Cingular is GSM. The phone must be unlocked if it is to work with T-mobile.

Unlocked? So I can't just walk into a Cingular store, buy a phone from them, then insert my SIM?

If you look to buy online make sure the phone is unlocked. If you find a phone you like and it is locked, let me know what model it is and I'll tell you if it can be unlocked by a pro.
