I am so frustrated with T-Mobile that I could spit nails!
The whole reason I got a nicer phone was because it offered 3 rebates… $40, $50 and $60. The rebates were to be sent in along with copies of three bills… I believe it was the first bill, third and fourth. By the time they were all sent in, it was well before Christmas. I had sent in the third before I heard anything back on the first.
So, I call. I got the major run-around on the phone and some clueless person telling me they never received my rebate submission. Okay, it happens. Lucky for me I had copies of everything. So, I resubmitted it and waited another 2 months before I got anything in the mail. Then, when I finally heard back from them, they told me the rebate was no longer valid. Hello!? It was valid when I sent it in! Is is my fault that they take forever to process things? It took me talking to 3 more reps on the phone before I finally got my $50 applied toward my current bill.
Now, here we are… practically in May. Where are my other two rebates? If I check online, they don’t exist in the system. If I call, they tell me I need to be patient and “sometimes they take longer than the 10-12 weeks stated on the form.” blah blah blah… That would be no problem if they were mailed a few months ago, but the second and third rebate were mailed in October and November. That’s more like 20-24 weeks!
So today, I emailed t-mobile’s rebate department and got this lovely reply:
Thank you for contacting T-Mobile Rebate
Customer Care
After further research it shows that the rebate has been denied for the invalid serial number and the dates not matching up. I do apologize but the offer has recently expired and we are no longer able to rectify this issue any further.
Thank you for choosing T-Mobile.
AND then when I responded with my request for information on who to talk to to get this resolved, I got this reply:
I understand the situation and I am so sorry but the offer is still closed. Once the offer is closed we are unable to do anything further to process that through.
Thank you for choosing T-Mobile.
I am not asking for the moon here, it’s only two rebates totaling a measly $100. To T-Mobile, this is chump change. To me, it’s groceries and school tuition and gasoline. HOW is this fair? HOW is this my fault?!
Has anyone else experienced this? Why do they think this is good business to drag out the processing of rebates until AFTER the rebate is no longer being offered?
I am baffled. I thought this was a reputable company but I am about to pull my account over all this crap.

Ouch. You should consult a lawyer for something like this. This certainly appears to be the company's fault. I totally agree with you that the T-Mobile call centre staff are completely clueless.

I've never had an issue with tmobiles rebate system. Did you buy your phones through wirefly or another inphonic company? I have heard of a lot of problems with them.

Yes, I got the phone through Wirefly. I've been doing some investigation online and it seems like their name comes up a LOT on ripoff reports.
Great. Goodbye $100.

I'm sorry that happened it sounds like it came from Wirefly. If you call customer service, not rebates they can check to see what the rebates available where when you had purchased the phone. If you had valid rebates customer care can help you.

This is a lesson to all that cheaper is not always better. Everyone should learn that you pay a higher price in COR stores b/c of the service you are getting. Most of the time COr store reps know the ins and outs of things.
