I am a busy mom, and I need a phone with a full keypad for sending text messages, but also a pretty good calendar/planner/to do type application. My husband offered to buy a treo smart phone, but I don't think I have a use for all the extra stuff that comes with having that phone. I have the LG vx8300 right now, but it's to hard to use the event/calander application with having to type things in on a standard number pad.
At this point I am concidering the Samsung u740, LG enV or one of the black berries. Any advice would be MUCH appreciated!

Getting a blackberry would be similar to getting a treo, blackberries are also smartphones. My recommendation for just small calender note entering would be the enV, or samsung u740. But the smartphones will definitely have a better selection of event-coordinating and calendar capabilities than the regular handsets. Data plans are required by RIM, so the blackberry handset will have more cost per month associated with it.

get the U740 if u want size its about the size of a regular flip phone with a key board the only downside is that it has a sligtly cramped key board so if u have bigger figers u might want to get the
Env this phone has a bettter keyboard layout and a 2.0 megapixel camera while the Samsung only has 1.3. On a side note the EnV has had a lot of battery related problems.
and finally the black berries out of the three choices its the most fragile . but if you need the best planner this is it. everything else is pretty sub par

IF you get a blackberry, you will have to add an unlimited data package to your line for $44.99 at least. This isn't true with the other Smartphones, but a blackberry by nature is syncing online ALL the time and uses KBs non-stop. It HAS to have unlimited data.
Treos, Moto Q and samsungs will do with the 10MB package, this just adds $24.99. or you can go with Pay as you go KBU. this is a penny and half per Kilobyte. this sounds cheap but requires you to keep an eye on your usage cuz it can add up quickly.
If neither of those sound good, you should go with the EnV* and get a USB cable. it will hook into your computer and there are 3rd party applications like BitPim that are made to transfer data from your phone to your computer.
It doesn't do this wirelessly or sync all day like a smartphone, but every night I sit down and plug my phone into my laptop. I click a link in BitPim and it transfers my contacts, calendar, text, call log, EVERYTHING to Bitpim. I can update calendar and contacts in bitpim and then xfer it to the phone too. It works both ways.
I am a busy mom too, but I'm also one income so the data packages weren't ideal for me. This is the poor mans way of doing it, and I for one don't see that it is lacking. Bitpim also has the oppurtunity to rip ringtones from songs on your computer and send them to the phone via email FOR FREE. If any further questions, lemme know.
* I elected for the EnV because busy moms don't have time to type and retype their text msgs that never type right the first time because the mean little buttons in the u740 are too close together. I have skinny little fingers and long nails, I couldn't get a steady feel for the buttons and spent most of my time editing. Very frustrating.

I am a busy working mom and looking at the enV as well. Don't want to pay any more for an extra package and don't use web, music, downloads (who has time?).
What are the battery issues with the enV that are mentioned in the post by BlackHayate? I have had the freebie Motorola V325 for 2 years and that has nothing BUT battery problems.

Battery related issues for the enV include about 6 months to a year worth of charges and the port sometimes moves around in the phone so it won't charge anymore. Sometimes this doesn't occur, but I've seen many replacements for that purpose on some of the LGs that use that port.
