With Cingular-branded phones, you can call your voicemail by pushing & holding the number 1.
Unfortunately, I have a unbranded phone and must set up each tidbit manually. This is one of them.
The voicemail number is correctly programmed in the phone (and I can call the number when I'm notified by selecting 'call'). But sometimes I don't want to check right then & there. And to access the voicemail I have to navigate around more than I'd like.
I managed to set this up last time on an unbranded phone - also a Motorola Razr, so I know its possible.
Anyone know what I might need to do to set this up?
Respectfully,
Jacob M.

if you have already made a speed dial for #1 you have to delete that speed dial first
then input your voicemail server# (ensure the dial string starts with +1 or it will never work right) and its complete

I figured it out. I had the phone set to look at the SIM card for 1-touch dialing. It was calling my first contact on the SIM (#1001) when I pushed & held '1'. Change that to look at the phone and it worked out just fine. Chalk that up to experience. Thanks for the help Elmo - that pointed me on the right path to making this work.

I have the opposite problem, my voicemail shortcut is in the number 1 position and I cant make it go away. I have a speed dial programmed for the 1 position, but it always dials voicemail. ive tried cvhanging the voicemail shortcut to, say 90, or 9 but it keeps reverting to 1. How do I change or, not allow shortcuts?

As I recall correctly, voicemail speed dial is stored on the sim card and is programed witht he gsm resend ota. Just call CC and they can do it in the billing system or the voicemail system.that's what I do - we use a program called smarttrust
