It looks like I do not have insurance so I will have to buy another phone. It was a SLVR with Itunes and I kinda liked it. Am I going to have to pay an extraordinary amount of money or can I get another (newer 2 year commitment) to get a good deal.

My thought is that the cost of a new SLVR with Itunes will be about the same to kill my contract and get out of it.

Suggestions or thoughts? I hope I put in enough info for you.

Simple enough, you shouldn't need our help. Do you dislike the service? Who's responsible for the phone being lost or stolen? And what will you do if you get out of your current contract? That won't prevent another phone from being lost.

And yes, the replacement SLVR will be expensive. I think it's 18 months into a 2-year contract before you can renew the contract and get a deal on a phone. You might find another one on E-Bay or a local authorized seller that deals in used phone. Of all places, here in Jackson (hole), MS, we have a pretty good phone store that isn't just a Cingular store front. I've gotten a couple of used Razrs from these folks.

Good luck whatever action you pursue,

no its 21 months into a 24 mo contract and the l7 are still pretty close to 300 full retail cost, and atleast if you buy it from cingular you can add insurance to it

Well; I ended up calling customer service and double checked my account to see if I had insurance or not. I did not.I asked what my options were and they told me basically to buy another phone. I did mention that the phones are the same price as buying out my contract and they sent me to someone else to "help" me. They ended up selling me a razor with itunes since they didn't have any slivrs anymore for a reduced price. I did have to sign up for another 2 years; but they treated me well enough.actually far better than I expected them to. I think I will be investing in the insurance from now on.

IMO, it would have been much easier to buy another phone from another source. Extending contracts can be nice, but if you ever want a new phone within that time period, can be a pain.

Did you put insurance on your contract this time? icon_razz.gif

well its a nesseccary evil, if you don't extend, you pay full price, if you extend and break it or want a new one, you pay full price, either way contracts aren't something to be afraid of, too many people as scared of them, if you're happy with your service thats all that counts

I can't tell you how many customers say they don't want to extend their contract, then I look at the acct and they've been a customer since '99, seriously what's 2 more years compared to 8 that you've had service?
