What exactly does the sim unlock do. I called t-mobile and got the code but I don't know what it's purpose. please help.

It allows you to use the phone with other service providers.

It allows you to use any sim card in your phone. Its a nice thing if your traveling internationally.

lol because VZW uses technology that it isn't used in other countries. Except for few asian countries (japan, korea). Plus VZW doesn't use SIM Cards so what would they unlock? LOOL

hey um i have a samsung W531 and was wandering if anyone knew how to find out my PIN to unlock my phone if i have forgotten it?

Someone in the samsung forum might be able to help you. The only thing I can say is try to get tmobile to give it to you, but your phone doesn't sound like a tmo phone.
