I put a bluetooth usb dongle in my computer but it will not see the Nokia 6275i phone. The phone will also not see the computer. I am running XP Sp2 and using a generic dongle with widcomm drivers. I have tried everything I can think of to no avail. I think my com port is setup right and both devices have names attached to them. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you activated bluetooth on the phone and set it to visible?

I have a Dick Smith blueTooth usb dongle using BlueSoleil software on XP sp2
no problems with installation of the dongle.
However I have to say the phone (6275i) and Nokia PC Suite are pretty bad.
Have you tried wammu?
My experience has been that the phone must be 'paired' with the base device (the pc in this case) and an access code must be entered.
You should take your phone back to the retailer and have them verify that BlueTooth is actually working on the phone. Then, perhaps, assuming the phone is ok, take the dongle back also, and have that tested.
I understand your frustrations, bleeding edge I'm afraid, or maybe just really bad quality.

Paired Bluetooth dongle and computer, then you can transfer files between them
