Hey all,

Just got a new (well almost new) V3 RAZR and when I power it on, the screen says "Contact Service Provider". Does this mean someone has tried to unlock the phone and it cannot be unlocked? Can it even be unlocked at this point? Did I just purchase an expensive paper weight?

Ok, I got past the service provider thing and I have read the tutorials on backing up the phone and how to unlock the Razor myself.

The problem now is when I start in bootloader mode, it says I have bootloader 0a.52 not 8.26 or 7.E0. Can I still use Scotty2's bootloader downgrader to get to B/L 07.D0? I just want to make sure I don't screw anything up.

Any help would be much appreciated. I have Cingular currently and I got the phone from a co-worker who was using it with Cincinnati Bell's service. Would Cincinnati Bell be able to give me the codes so I don't have to worry about it? Or is that something Cingular could give me? Cingular says no, but I am ignorant when it comes to cell phones, so I don't know.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Sure. Thanks for the help Old_Fool.

It says:

Boot Loader
0A.52
SW Version:
R4515_G_08.BD.
D3R

I typed it exactly as it appears on the screen. Boot loader I think I understand, but I have no clue as to what SW Version means. But I realize I am a newb so I have a lot to learn.

you have V3r not a regular v3 so that why it does not work.
You need to flash it with a monster pack of
R4515_G_08.BD. D3R to get it back working again.
To unlock you would need to test point it

And to test point it, that means it has to be taken apart and something done to the wiring?

Yeah, I can't do that. I don't have a clue as to what I would be doing and the phone would certainly be an expensive paperweight.

Old_Fool, would you say the best chance I have is to call Cincinnati Bell to see if they would give me the subsidy code? Or would it still need to be test pointed and flashed even if they did give me the code?

Thanks again

If your fone is still in normal working condition then one you have the codes all you have to do is find a Tmobile sim card , insert it in and the fone will ask for subsidy codes, enter the codes and your fone will be unlock

Will only a TMobile sim card work? Or can it be a Cingular sim? When I have my Cingular sim in, the phone does ask for the subsidy code.

Ok, thanks for the help Old_Fool. All I need now is that super-secret code. I have called Cingular and Cincinnati Bell both and they refuse to give it to me. But I know someone that works for Cincy Bell and he may be able to help.

I'll let everyone know how it turns out.
