I recently won a Samsung u740 for Verizon Wireless. I currently subscribe to Amp'd Mobile, and since Amp'd uses Verizon towers for their network, would I be able to register the ESN with Amp'd? Would I have to "unlock" it or something?

What he said . . .
Verizon and Amp'D are both CDMA carriers, so there is no way to unlock it. Verizon locks down a lot of features that a phone may be capable of so taht they can sell their own services. Many of the smaller companies do not. That and Verizon phones are all loaded with Verizon's operating system, this in turn could cause some incompatibilities with the service, hence back to what Elmo said, you would have to call and ask.

It should work if it is a CDMA phone going on Verizon which is a CDMA network. Not positive though.
Good luck

the device **may** be SOC locked (similar to a sim lock in GSM). you will make that discovery if it is or not during the NAM programming
