i followed all the steps to use bitpim to create custom ringtones for my lg chocolate from verizon wireless. it is a lg vx8500, i converted the sound file to mp3, shrunk it down, and as i clicked "send phone data" it came up with an error that said "Failed to auto-detect the port to use. I couldn't detect any candidate ports." Im stuck here, if anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much

Try reinstalling the drivers. I've had this problem many times w/ my phone. If that doesn't work go into My computer, view system information, hardware, device manager, then find com ports. Right click on your phone and click uninstall. It should be re detected and reinstalled. If it doesn't reinstall, then reinstall the drivers manually. Let me know if this helps.

I've been having the same problem and I did all those things. I uninstalled the driver and it still won't work.

Try manually selecting your phone. Go into edit then click settings and select your phone model from the drop down list. Then click Com Port and look for your phone's com port. Select and click OK. Then click OK again and see if this solves the problem.

I tried that and I have 2 options on choosing a com port. The first one is Auto, and the 2nd is Com3. I got the same error message when i did auto. When I did Com3, an error came up and said, "The phone is not responding with transitioning mode from none to brew."

Can anyone help me? I've been having the same problem for a few months now. Since I gave up and tried again to go and unistall the driver, I couldn't find it in the list under Hardware. When I plug my phone in, the computer makes the noise like it detects something through the USB port, but nothing pops up and I can't see it in My Computer. Help please.
