I have had my Ocean for a month or so now, and I'm kind of a gadget freak. I did write a review on C-net that you can check out, but I'll give you an overview of my experience so far.
Helio customer service probably wont figure out anything you cant figure out on your own. They are very nice, and try hard. but they need to get the engineers of the phone to get some real instructions translated from Korean.
The toys are abundant! Myspace, YouTube, AOL IM, Yahoo IM, Gmail, Earthlink, Windows Live, Helio Mail, Amazon, Craigs List, Google Maps, Buddy Beacon, GSM Navigation, PDF text converter, Helio Up (like photobucket) and on and on.
They say it handles POP and IMAP email accounts, but no one knows how to make it work. I checked again today, and they are estimating a couple months for support on that function.
It uses Sprint towers for voice, and Verizon for internet. I haven't had any (major) reception problems yet. There are some software gliches yet, and the phone will freeze periodically, but either fixes itself, or can reboot quickly.
The speaker phone is way too quiet. You cannot change the ringtone for email, txt msg, or IM. With the combination of the low speaker volume, and the alert tones, I have only heard maybe 15 txt msgs out of the 250 that I have received since I've had the phone.
The internet browser will not work on most sites (if any) that are not optimized for cell phones. If you receive a image file by email, you cannot send it by text, Helio up, or place it in a photo album. I have no idea why. Also the bluetooth only functions to interface for headset and maybe a car kit. No data transfer, or computer interface.
Easy to make your own ringtones and wallpapers. Just a couple easy tricks on the ringtones. Battery life is good if you are not using the internet.
All in all, I love the phone. If they upgrade the software to fix some freezing glitches and allow the user to change alert tones, I won't care that much about the speaker volume.

Alright. Well I am about to purchase a Blackberry 8800 courtesy of a few buddies of mine and a discount. So.Is it worth it to get the Blackberry or the Helio?

I got cingular when I turned 16, and never really had a problem. I had the basic talking plan w/ not many features, and it worked really well. When they switched over to at&t I kept hearing myself everytime I talked to someone so I decided to ditch it, plus by that time I had MEdia packages as well. I did some research and gave helio a try. The customer service is phenomenal, they make you wanna like take a bullet for them or something. Everything is included so I don't have to worry about using to much data. Yeah, it can be expensive, but its cheaper than adding the unlimited packages to your at&t account. If you don't use features like that though (text, internet, myspace, etc.), do not get Helio. One of the main reasons I like them is because I get 3G where I couldn't before with at&t. There is always the 30 day happiness deal, and remember to never call it a phone.
