When I go to the Get it Now menus and attempt to do to "download Ringtones" The meny flashes Opening, but there are no menu options. Same thing on about half of the Get it Now menus. Can these re-downloaded? I've been to the Verizon Store and they Flashed the phone to the latest release but I guess these menu items are not part of the flash. It's almost like there is an option that has been turned off. Any suggestions?

Sure, that's the easy way for one with more money than brains. Sorry but I'm really tired of that answer. The phone is missing some software. Java software. VZN has the same answer for every problem, if it can't be fixed with a "Flash Upgrade" then it must be a hardware problem. My frustration with LG and VZN is starting to show. (deep breath) Thank you for your answer. I will send my phone back as soon as I get my PC back. I had to sent it in to have Notepad.exe re installed.

I have something you could try. only for the adventurous.
you press MENU, hit 0, your secret code is a series of six 0s. 000000
this pulls up a menu, towards the bottom is the get it now menu. don't touch any of the other stuff.
this pulls up a Get It Now, but like a Beta version.
see if your menus are in there.

Listen I didnt build the dam thing and no one at verizon did either.
I wouldnt call that a brainless anwser. I mean you went to the store reloaded the software with the flash and still did not bring up. What more can be done, honestly? What you expect us to do pull a wand out of our ass and tap the phone to make it bring the menu?
Despite your problem, I have the same phone and havent had a problem with it yet. LG is pretty good on thier phones to say the least than the other ones like Motorola or Audiovox.

Eh let's take it easy VZ. I don't think WO meant anything personal. Sometimes you just wanna know WHY something doesn't work. It's worth taking a shot at it if you have an understanding of programming. I personally like to know as much about these phones as possible.
But that kind of exploration is time consuming. In a call center environment with service level pressures, reps don't have time to dissect every piece of equipment. Nor do customers have the desire or time to run through hidden menus. The barely touched dysfunctional sets are sent to LG where THOSE minds can delve into and fix the problem. Then they're FRU'd or considered refurbs.
So I hope my trick works on your phone. We both wanna know how it goes, right vzwpeon?

Thanks guys, I guess I was hoping for a way to download all of the programming back to the phone to make it "Factory fresh" I did try the six 0's trick and the menu's weren't there either. There are other settings under the six 0's I'd like to learn about but I'm not going to touch them until I find out what they do. Seems (motorola reference) to me there might be a switch turned off some where. Do you know if there is a way to send it to LG to be reprogrammed?

yes, if you visit their site, us.lge.com/support, there you will find instructions on sending your phone to them. It's probably out of warranty, being a 9800, but it won't cost an astronomical amount I wouldn't think.
