Ok. My contract wasn't up yet, but i absolutely hated my razr phone. I purchased an LG VX 8300 off of ebay. I turned the phone on and charged the battery and ever since i turned it on it says initial programming needed. will this go away once activated? or have i been doomed to bad cell phones?

Well, I've activated a phone before and it has never said that. The only reason i have yet to activate it is i think i can return it on ebay if i have not activated it yet, so i don't want to take any chances.

The message the phone is displaying is completely normal, Your carrier is verizon so it is a CDMA network. Meaning your phone needs to be programmed for the first time with the proper MDN (mobile directory number) and the MSID. These numbers enable the phone to connect to the network to make and recieve calls. Every phone for a CDMA network will display this message before it recieves its initial programming with these two numbers much in the same way a GSM phone will not function until the SIM card is inserted. You have nothing to worry about hallen.
Hope this helps!
