First post here, go easy! Anyway, just signed up for Cingular this month and after reading some posts here, got the MEdia Max 200, which seems to be the data plan of choice. Now, since I have the E62, I would obviously like to use the browser as opposed to the limited access that MEdia net provides in itself. I just need to clear up a few things for my own peace of mind (aka, not ending up with a $200 bill). 1)Why would anyone sign up for PDA connect unlimited for twice as much money? The E62 is not a 3G phone, so it wouldn't be for higher speed. 2)As long as my ASP is listed as WAP, does it matter how I connect? (i.e., browser, MEdia Net, Gmail app. In other words, does it all fall under the MEdia Net unlimited access plan. From reading the other posts, I realize that this isn't "supported" by Cingular, and it's probably not a good idea to tether with it. That's fine, I don't even have a laptop. I just want to freely browse the internet on my phone, and want to make sure I won't get raped at the end of the month. (Already at 2.5 MB= $25!) Thanks in advance for your help. It's awesome to see some Cing reps on here that know what they're talking about. The last CSR I talked to told me that I couldn't use MEdia Net on the E62, it literally wouldn't work. WTF? Obviously she was wrong, I think she was just trying to upsell into the PDA Connect.

you can use it, but as you said, it's not supported. so if you get charged, you can't dispute it.

The difference between the Pda connect and the media net plans is the gateway access they provide. The medianet accesses the WAP which is a slower gateway, so to download a web page will be a bit slower. with the pda connect you access the internet gateway which allows faster download speeds. Also, if you load a web page on the E62 at a PPU (pay-per-use) it will charge a lot fastre than if you were on the WAP browser. Example= a full yahoo page could be as much as $5 at PPU, with the media net access (generic web pages) it would be like $.50 or less. Another thing to consider would be that if you are caught browsing a lot and you have the MEdiaMAx plan, it can be cancelled and replaced with the PDA connect and you will pay all the charges, etc. It racks up fast! and eventually it will be to where you cannot access the browser from pda's without a PDA plan, just like the Blackberry's. So a little advice, pay the extra $20 and save yourself hassle and heartache.

Thanks for the replies guys. I called Cingular again yesterday and asked the rep to look up my usage and see what category it was being billed under. It was all MediaNet. I've been using the browser and MEdia Net, but always choosing MEdia Net as the AP. So I don't think I'll have any problems. Guess we'll see at the end of the month!
